CLEVERMAN EPISODE TWO RECAP: CONTAINMENT

This weeks episode of Cleverman showed us how violent it can be, with a kid's heart being ripped out and a couple of women being executed by shots to the head. The humans are far too violent to the Hairies. Nonetheless, it was a good episode (though I don't what they mean in the theme song by 'take the hair and the body will follow', is it like pulling someone's hair.)
Koen is Cleverman and it seems he doesn't know what to use his new abilities for. He is still hearing a woman's voice saying the name Cleverman in the indigenous language. A flashback also shows that Koen's brother Waruu didn't treat him so well when they were kids. He goes to see aunt Lynda to ask her why he was chosen but she has no answers for him. She gives him a bag which belonged to his father.
Waruu does not believe he wasn't chosen to be Cleverman, he is not taking it so well and his daughter suspects him of having an affair. He decides to compensate by agreeing to appear in a live debate with the immigration minister, Geoff Matthews, on a news program on Jarrod Slade’s television network. Waruu’s henchman Harry, a shaved-down Hairy, has provided him with some information that the CA is 'disappearing' Hairies and detaining them where no one knows.
The Hairy family is split with only Boondee and Djukara in the blacksite prison in contact with each other. Djukara picks fights with the guards in prison but he has an ulterior motive of memorizing the code to every door in prison. This does not end well because the guards decide to punish his father instead. To humiliate Djukara further, the guards decide to shave all his hair, making him look young and vulnerable.

Latani gets a new friend called Virgil who feeds her pasta and invites her to her room. Virgil makes Latani contacts and an ID card so that she is able to move around without getting into trouble.
Araluen is not having a better time either. She is marched with two other women and inspected by another woman who apparently has to choose one of them. She volunteers to be taken but this saves her life for now but instantly dooms the other women who are immediately shot in the head. She is injected with something which knocks her out. She later wakes up in a strange house with no idea where she was.

Jarrod slade whose wife is having trouble gerring pregnant (and who apparently is building some kind of ark) has other plans for the live debate. He plans to break the news of the boy killed at the beginning of the episode in the during the debate.

The live debate is Geoff Matthews idea and he uses it to discredit Waruu. Waruu doesn't realise this until its too leaves the building very angry.

The voice in Koen's head gets worse at the end of the episode and Koen has no choice but to track it down. Blair asks to Drive and together, they track the voice to the top floor of some building, where they find the woman, probably being experimented on. They rescue her and take her home.

FEED THE BEAST EPISODE 2 RECAP: NOT QUITE RIGHT

Feed the beast improved on its second outing, but still didn’t get it right. The series seems a good idea at first but then it just gets silly at times. With its exaggerated characters.

The show’s best part is Tommy Jr. (TJ), a boy who hasn’t said a word since his mother died. The delight on his face when cooking makes the kitchen scenes better than they deserve to be. One thing is that the bully at school seems old enough to get that this kid has been through enough but just doesn’t stop bullying TJ.
Tommy is finally open to the prospect of opening a restaurant and he shows this by quitting his job as a wine rep (which wasn’t going so well for him anyway).  The ‘Tooth Fairy’, crime boss Woichik gives Dion 48 hours to show a signed contract from an investor.

Dion again asks Tommy to meet with Aidan, his father. Tommy and his father are not on very good terms and they emphasize this with the ‘son’ in ‘Moran & Son’ rubbed out.
When Tommy and Dion go out to meet Tommy, he is not so enthusiastic but he accepts to do some tasting of the food they plan to prepare in the restaurant. Aidan also doesn’t like the food that much but he invests anyway (doesn’t want to pass on the chance of making more money) though he insists on weekly visits from TJ as part of the deal. Tommy doesn’t like it but TJ wants to do it (but not before he has saw a pistol stuffed in his Grandfather’s sock). TJ also seemed a little bit too interested in Aidan's guns during his visit to house, hopefully, he is not getting any ideas.
Tommy insists on making someone look over the contract and Dion says he knows that person. Dion goes by his lawyer’s place and she sends him away for the second time saying she has someone in. It is then revealed that Gordiano is her father (the detective who is obsessed with taking down the Tooth Fairy and wants to use Dion to do it).
Another thing which the show needs to address is Pilar and her relationship with Tommy. Too little has been shown about her other than that she like Tommy and seems maybe too comfortable lying (in a way) in order to talk to him.
At the end of the episode ends when Tommy notices the bruises on TJ and without much further investigation confronts and attacks his dad. But he ends up being beaten by a man in a wheelchair and a gun at his head
Verdict: The show still needs a lot of work. Despite the simplicity of the idea, it becomes unbelievable at times, like they are trying too hard, or maybe not hard enough. David Schwimmer is though perfect in his role as Tommy and the most realistic part of the show. It is not so easy for TV shows to survive these days and Feed The Beast needs a lot of improvements for this to happen.

WAYWARD PINES SEASON 2 EPISODE 2 RECAP: ONCE UPON A TIME IN WAYWARD PINES

Wayward Pines is has taken another step back to its feet. After a poor previous two episodes, they have given us probably their best episode this season so far. The episode tells us the story of Jason Higgins, as narrated by Pam (who returns in this episode).
Melissa Leo (Pam)
It turns out Jason is not just some David Pilcher fanatic, he is just not some power hungry kid. It turns out he was actually bred by Pam and David for this. Jason is the first born of Wayward Pines, and so he was taught to lead the town when he grew up. We also find out that David killed the rest of the people who turned against David Pilcher in the first season.
Tom Stevens (Jason Higgins) and Kacey Rohl (Kerry Campbell)

After Pam killed David Pilcher, Jason sent her away to a house on the outskirts of Wayward Pines and in this episode, she returns and wants to help Jason in fulfilling David's Plan for the town. She tells Jason she was around when David was making those plans and so she would be useful. Jason accepts and asks the whole town to forgive her.

Jason Patric, Djimon Hounsou, Nimrat Kaur, Michael Garza, and Emma Tremblay

Later that day, Theo Yedlin talks to Pam and it seems she is back to her old self. She asks Theo whether he thought Hawaii was all about him. This makes Theo start to wonder whether he was in Wayward Pines because of Vanessa. He asks Rebecca why she wasn't wearing her wedding ring (She had been there three years with no hope of seeing Theo so one would understand why she didn't wear her ring anymore). But she says she didn't receive a ring when she was awoken.
Pam goes and steals drugs from Megan Fisher's office who almost catches her in the act. (Pam was once a drug addict so one may assume that she is using again). Pam returns home and a group of kids have sprayed murderer on the walls of her house. Theo then goes to Pam's house and questions her about shooting David and after Hawaii but gets no answer.
Megan finds out that a vial with Variola Major (smallpox) is missing and she calls Theo. Theo and Megan interrupt Jason's meeting and tell him about Pam stealing the small pox vial. Pam confesses to doing this and says she is doing this because everyone in Wayward Pines has turned against each other(Pam sounds like she is doing everyone a favor, like her killing everyone in the town is helping them).

Jason Patric (Dr. Theo Yedlin) and Hope Davis (Megan Fisher)

Later, when Jason is talking to Pam, he asks her whether she always knew that David Pilcher's plan would fail, she says that she hoped not. She also tells him that he is her son (either biologically or since she raised him, she didn't elaborate.
Jason takes Pam to the forest and kills her by strangulation (though it takes and awfully short time, unless he broke her neck.)
Djimon Hounsou (CJ Mitchum), Tom Stevens (Jason Higgins), and Christopher Meyer

Theo tells Rebecca about how got his watch (which he couldn't find). He says that he had never gotten a gift from his father until his mom's funeral when his dad took off his retirement watch and gives it to him. He also says that he had never had a beer with his dad until that day and from that day every Thursday at 5:30, he would have a beer with his dad. And so he is wondering what his dad did that first Thursday after he was taken.
Verdict: The episode was okay (for season two standards) though it is weird that Pam only returned to risk everyone's life with a deadly disease, yet she is supposed to be the sane Pilcher sibling. Jason though had a few good moments during the episode where one realizes the pressure he has due to his leadership position. This was another episode where Theo Yedlin did almost nothing though we learnt a little about him and why he was brought to Wayward Pines.

PREACHER EPISODE TWO: SEE REVIEW. CONFUSING? YES, STILL GOOD? OFCOURSE

The episode takes us back in time to 1881, where a man leaves his wife and sick daughter behind and rides into the desert to find a cure for the daughter. This might be confusing for someone but this man is a major character in the comics and so we shall see more of him.
Back to the future, the episode at first explores the relationship between Jesse Custer and Cassidy and also Jesse and Tulip. Tulip ‘crashes’ the baptism ceremony and asks to be baptized. Cassidy is broke and he is trying to get money from Emily. She tells Jesse about Cass who says he will talk to him. Eugene’s looks give Cass a real scare, when I thought someone like him had seen everything. Cass what happened to him and he tells him about the failed suicide with a shotgun. Someone shouts murderer when Sheriff Root and Eugene are leaving the church but Eugene asks his Dad not to pursue the matter. Inside the church, Linus confesses to Jesse about his pedophile temptations.
Later, when Jesse is asking for suggestions for the Church, Tulip removes his steering wheel and hangs it on a tree. Jesse and Cass talk about God’s plan for each other with Cass saying God’s plan for Jesse is boring. Cass asks him about who Jesse wonders why they are always talking about him and not Cass. He asks Cass to say something about himself. Cass says he is a 119 year old vampire from Dublin City on the run from religious vampire hunting vigilantes. Jesse laughs it off thinking it’s a joke. Jesse takes what Cass is drinking and it knocks him out. Cass steals Jesse’s wallet and keys and leaves.
The two men who are following whatever entered Jesse find him unconscious and try to get it out with some kind of lullaby but fail. The decide to cut it out using a chainsaw but Cass (probably feeling guilty about robbing Jesse) interrupts them and he gets a shot from a shotgun in his belly. He kill the two men and rescues Jesse, even one the chainsaw gets out of control and almost kills Jesse.
At someplace called the ToadVine whorehouse, Tulip is playing poker with a group of guys (and winning their money). Tulip receives a phone call and books a room in the house.
Cassidy cleans up the church, and by the time he finishes realizes it’s too late for him to go outside. Enily wakes Jesse Custer up to remind him of the appointment he has. His appointment is at Mrs. Loach’s house, whose daughter is in a coma. The preacher tries to console her but even that doesn’t cheer her up. She calls what he has said just ‘words.’
Tulip kidnaps Jesse and chains his ankle. She tells him about a job she has for them. He turns down the offer but Tulip says it is a matter of time before the real Jesse comes out. Tulips removes the chain to reveal that Jesse was not chained to anything.
Jesse breaks into Linus’ house and tries to tell him to leave the girl alone. Jesse baptizes him with hot water from the bath tab and orders him to forget about her. To Jesse’s surprise, it works and Linus completely forgets about the girl. He doesn’t even remember her ever existing.
Jesse goes back to Mrs. Loach’s house and when he is left alone with the girl, he orders her to open her house.
Verdict: The episode did not introduce any new storylines but just tried to expand on the first episode. It was kind of dull and slow though it obviously had its good moments.
