WAYWARD PINES SEASON 2 EPISODE 2 REVIEW: BLOOD HARVEST

The abbies are gone apparently and is Ben Burke dead? 
Season 2 of wayward pines is like a spinoff season 1. With new characters being introduced and old ones being killed off. Someone who fell in love with the characters of season 1 may have to find new characters to love. But season 1 also ended with the series lead being killed off and so season 2 had to find someone to replace him and its turning out to be Dr. Theodore Yedlin (Jason Patric).

The episode began right where episode 1 ended when Mario had driven Ben Burke, Dr. Theo Yedlin and Xander outside the fence and left them there to die under the orders of Jason, the current dictator of wayward pines, who like almost every first generation adores Dr. David Pilcher and his policies.

For some unexplained reason, the abbies don’t attack them but instead run towards and try to climb over the fence where they are electrocuted to death but in doing so their bodies pile up and so the other abbies are able to climb over the fence. But of course Jason and his army overpower and kill this group of abbies but Kerry, Jason’s right hand woman gets injured and they rescue Theo from outside the fence to treat her. Theo asks for an explanation for everything but of course doesn’t believe anything, not even from his wife Rebecca. We also see Theresa Burke still alive in a house. Theo realizes he has to do his job as a doctor and Jason feels threatened by Theo’s popularity and usefulness to the town.

We find out there is a food shortage in Wayward Pines and crops have been planted outside the fence. And so harvest is carried out led by CJ Mitchum(Djimon Hounsou) where the abbies are scared off with fire and we find out Ben is alive but he is alone and scared.

Wayward Pines episodes always end with some kind of reveal or suspense and this episode had two; the apparent death of Ben Burke where he is eaten by the abbies. After that, it is revealed that for another unexplained reason, the abbies have all decided to leave Wayward Pines alone.

Though the episode was just okay, it was not up to standards made by the first season.Theo Yedlin has to become involved in more important and heroic matters unless he is going to save wayward pines by staying in the hospital all day. Ben Burke who a lot of people expected to headline season 2 should hopefully be alive but that is not like Wayward Pines which has shown already that it is not afraid to kill off its main characters.
